2019-2020 Club Championship update
2019/20 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
Open Singles (handicap) : Sheila Robinson
Finally, after a long hiatus caused by the Corona virus, the final event saw Sheila Robinson prevail in the open singles. After defeating Laurie Green in the semi-final, Sheila went on to defeat Julie Gartner in an all ladies’ final.
Men’s Fours: Ron Reynolds, John Morena, Brian Frost and Kelvin Carter
With only four entries the Fours was conducted in a round robin format. Teams comprised of:
- Ron Reynolds, John Morena, Brian Frost and Kelvin Carter
- John O’Brien, Peter Thompson, Terry Brown and Trevor Marshall
- Ian Lloyde, John Klingbeil, Bob Cahill and Peter Boase
- Harold Robinson, Laurie Green, Bob Hams and Bob Lamont
After the first two rounds Ron and John’s rinks had two wins, effectively making the final game between the two teams a final. The team of Ron Reynolds, John Morena, Brian Frost and Kelvin Carter were more consistent and won comfortably with an end to spare 18 shots to 9.
Ladies Fours Champions: Julie Gartner, Sheila Robinson, Yvonne Jex and Kym Mellon
In a classic final Julie, Sheila, Yvonne and Kym overcame Carol Shugg, Gloria Burns, Lorraine Bond and Bev Lloyde on the 15th and final end after scores were level on the 14th.
Men’s Handicap Singles: Trevor Marshall
Trevor Marshall defeated David Mills in the semi-final, then continued on his winning way to defeat John O’Brien in the Final 22/6 .

Men’s Consistency Singles: John Morena
The Final of the Consistency Singles has been run and won with John Morena successful over our new member Ron Reynolds in a very close tussle 101 to 99. Congratulations John.
Ladies Consistency Singles: Kym Mellon
Kym Mellon won a close final against Sheila Robinson.
Men’s Two Bowl Singles: John Morena
Bob Lamont has been waiting for a while after defeating David Mills in one semi. He will play John Morena after he comfortably accounted for Peter Thompson in the other semi. In a classic final, with both players having a chance to win on the last end John Morena prevailed 21-19. Congratulations John
Mixed Pairs: Julie Gartner and John Morena
After accounting for the team of Bond /Klingbeil, Julie Gartner and John Morena played Di and Rod Dodd in the final. Continuing their good form from the semis Julie and John went on to win the final.
Men’s Pairs: Terry Brown and John O’Brien
The Mens Pairs had Bob Lamont and Trevor Marshall facing Terry Brown and John O’Brien who comfortably defeated Peter Symens and Brenton Tamblyn after a pretty close tussle for most of the semi. The final was a pretty close affair with Terry and John holding off Bob and Trevor over the last couple of ends to win 19-17.

The final was played on 26th Nov with Gloria Burns & Carol Shugg playing Lorraine Bond & Sheila Robinson

Men’s Championship Singles: Wayne Uppington
The Club Singles championship has progressed to the final stage with Wayne Uppington accounting for Terry Brown in one semi. After accounting for John Morena, Peter Symens fell just short in the other semi to John O’Brien.
This set up a very interesting final with 2017-18 winner Wayne Uppington taking on the in-form division one skipper John O’Brien.
The final played on Sunday January 12th was won by Wayne Uppington 25 to 15, his second singles win in three years. Congratulations Wayne
Ladies Championship Singles: Kym Mellon
Kym Mellon defeated Carol Shugg in the final 25-11. After getting off to a flying 19-1 start Kym held off a determined Carol, to win comfortably.
